AKIRA Europe is the European subsidiary of the Singapore group TT International Limited.
TT International was founded in 1984 by its current CEO, Mr. Sng, and his wife. Starting out as a small family business distributing electronic and household electrical products to emerging countries in Southeast Asia, mostly in the former Indochina, the TT International group has today grown to be a multinational with a turnover of more than 700 million Singapore dollars.
There are a number of significant milestones in the life of the TT International group:
- 1994 marked the launching of the AKIRA brand name, owned by the group. AKIRAâ„¢ is a brand of mass-market electronic and household electric appliance products started with a single goal in mind: offering emerging countries a selection from an affordable line of ET products without compromising on quality or design. As quick as a wink, this brand extended its reach throughout all of Southeast Asia, on to the Middle East, then to Russia, finally including more than 60 countries worldwide, and thereby frequently earning the honorary and coveted title of "superbrand" in Singapore, as well as being listed among the 50 most famous Singapore brands. It's net worth today is more than 40 million S$.
- In the year 2000, TT International was first listed on the Singapore stock market. That was the consecration of 15 years of profitable growth crowned by a successful presentation and a capitalisation that allowed us to surpass the hurdles to even steadier growth.
- 2006was a key year of external growth for the group that resulted in the takeover of TEAC Australia, along with the marketing and sales rights for products under the TEAC brand name in Southeast Asia.
- In 2007, the group exceeded 700 million S$ in turnover.
- 2008 was to be the moment when the group made good on its desire to go international with its brand, with the launching of its European subsidiary, AKIRA Europe. .
